Summary

Support the Lead Teacher in the planning and execution of an education program that is reflective of the goals and philosophy of the Oberlin Early Childhood Center.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supports the teacher in the following ways:

  • Plans and implements a high-quality learning environment that reflects the Center’s mission, vision, values, philosophy, curriculum, and culture of the community.
  • Documents children’s progress through ongoing screening and assessment utilizing a variety of methods.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with parents through daily interactions.
  • Implements rules and regulations from the State of Ohio Child Care Licensing, Step Up to Quality program, the
    National Accreditation Commission, and USDA CACFP.
  • Creates and maintains a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Completes required reports.
  • Participates in continuous learning by attending trainings and learning new techniques.
  • Performs any other duties assigned by management.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experiences

  • Combined education and experience in Early Childhood Education to obtain a Level II on the Ohio Professional Development Network, completion of Early Childhood Education degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with young children.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. 
  • The employee is frequently required to walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 40 pounds without assistance and up to 60 pounds with assistance. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
